Podcast Co-Host | Former RCMP Officer | Veteran Advocate | Opioid Crisis Solutions
Chris Williams was born into a family that has answered the call of duty for several generations. His dedication to service and sacrifice has been profoundly influenced by their example, which includes his grandparents' distinguished wartime service and exemplary 33 years of service as a member of the RCMP and United Nations Peace Keeper and his father Tony’s exemplary 33 years of service as a member of the RCMP, also a United Nations Peace Keeper in both Bosnia and Kosovo.
Chris grew up in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Before joining the RCMP as a regular member in 2005, Chris spent three years as a civilian working for the Surrey RCMP as a jail guard and in the RCMP’s Transportation Section. Following basic training at the RCMP Academy in 2005, Chris completed 23 years of service as a regular member of the RCMP at various locations across Canada
While a member of the RCMP, Chris worked in and with First Nation communities, was a Police Dog (K-9) Handler, and developed high-level expertise in covert operations, drug trafficking investigations, financial crime investigations, human trafficking/smuggling investigations, organized crime investigations, and source/agent recruitment and handling. Chris led and implemented the RCMP’s “Inadmissible Patron Policy” to deal with members of high-profile organized crime groups who posed a threat to public safety. In 2014/2015, Chris was deployed on a human smuggling project in SE Asia, where he represented both the RCMP and the Government of Canada.
Chris has worked in various remote and big city environments and with several foreign and domestic law enforcement partners, partner agencies and governments. He has also been involved in a number of active shooter situations on duty and was in the crowd at the 2017 Las Vegas Route 91 Music Festival massacre, where 60 people were killed and over 400 injured.
Chris now works in the private sector, where he focuses his time and energy on assisting and advocating for current and retired police officers and leading emergent healthcare technology projects, including an opioid abuse deterrence project. Chris applies his skills in the public sector with a real passion for Veteran issues, opioid crisis solutions, First Nation issues, prison reform, and improving public and private healthcare systems through the use of technology to improve compliance and patient outcomes.
